Hints and Tips about Setup

Preparation is Essential

Using GoldVisionPro™, the computer network becomes less confusing, more accessible, more secure and more reliable than ever before.

Network administrators need to decide in advance how the directory structure will be created, or how GoldVisionPro™ will be adapted to the existing network directory structure.

Understand Network Structure

1.  Be sure to identify network drive folders as the Primary and Secondary Link Directories in the GoldVisionPro™ V-QuickLink Configuration in the Master Control Panel.  In order for all users to be able to retrieve linked documents, the files must be in a network directory that everyone can see from their machine.

2.  If a user generally works on the same workstation throughout the day, log on to GoldVisionPro™ in the Master Control Panel.  This will store information so that it does not need to be input each time this user links or views files.

Note - If a centralized workstation is located with a scanner attached, it is common to use GoldVisionPro™ without the Master Control Panel logged in.  This way, if a link is attempted to be created, the user will be prompted to login, therefore assuring that their user properties for that link are in tact.

3.  If users are using GoldMine® 5.7 or later, add the GoldVisionPro™ Link Center icon to the GoldMine® Task Bar ("commonly referred to as the Outlook Bar") when in GoldMine® by selecting Window - Taskbar, then while in the Taskbar, perform a right-mouse-click and by selecting Add New Item.  In the Item Type drop-down list, select External Application, then in the Application box, browse to the GoldVisionPro.exe file.  After finishing, right-mouse-click on the GoldVisionPro™ icon in the Taskbar, and move the icon up or down to position it adequately.

4.  In the GoldVisionPro™
V-QuickLink Configuration in the Master Control Panel, checking the Link Title Option will allow selection of a user-defined field in GoldMine® for creating a drop-down list of custom Document Titles.  This feature is particularly helpful in assuring consistent naming methods for various types of files and/or industries, which then makes sorting and searching for specific files much easier.  If this option is not checked, when linking a file GoldVisionPro™ will automatically display a drop-down list that shows the file name as well as titles that already exist for the links stored in this Contact Record.  That list may also be sorted differently with an adjustment in V-QuickLink Configuration.

Example:  This is very helpful for looking at many statements, where the Document Title may be "Statement - 2002-12-04", "Statement - 2002-11-04", "Statement - 2002-10-04", so that you are looking at the last statement for that account.
